Aged in used French oak casks for 18 months prior to being bottled unfiltered, the 2001 Descendant is a 1,000 case blend of 92% Shiraz and 8% Viognier cropped at approximately 1.5 tons of fruit per acre. This spectacular Australian red offers an aromatic smorgasbord of honeysuckle intermixed with blackberry and creme de cassis liqueurs, licorice, coffee, and spice. There is fabulous fruit purity, tremendous intensity, and great balance with flavor, power, and elegance all combined into a riveting example of Barossa Valley wine. Wine Advocate #148 (Aug 2003) Robert Parker
"A distinctive and exotically perfumed wine that breaks all the rules. Its spicy aromas are presently dominated by the distinctive apricot/peach blossom perfume of viognier, while shiraz provides the underlying aromas of white pepper and raspberries. Bursting with black briary fruits, its long, silky-smooth palate has a concentrated, almost sumptuous middle, before a fine, drying and savoury finish of lingering earthy flavours."
Jeremy Oliver, OnWine.
"Rich, ripe and distinctive, not at all heavy but gloriously expressive, playing out its generous blackberry, cherry and plum fruit on a deftly balanced frame, all of it echoing along with hints of sweet spice and cream on the long finish. Shiraz, with 8 percent Viognier.." HS,

Buying At Auction?
Your Questions, Answered
What do you need from me to get started?
We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.
How many wines are in each Lot?
You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.
Can I cancel my bid if I change my mind?
All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.
How much is the Buyers' Commission?
We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.
What are your freight charges?
Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.
Is there a Guarantee on my wine?
Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
