Mitolo Serpico Cab Sav 2003 750 mL
Est. range: 90-110
Private Sale- priced per LOT inc. GST (if applicable) and commission.
"Aged 10 months in new French oak, the intensely varietal 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Serpico boasts a fragrant black currant, floral, tobacco leaf, and spice box-scented nose along with intense fruit, wonderful purity, superb density, and remarkable elegance as well as definition. It will be interesting to see how this beauty evolves and ages. While accessible, it appears to have the stuffing and balance necessary to evolve for a decade or more."
Robert Parker, Wine Advocate # 155
Fruit is hand-picked quite early (around 13° Baume) and placed onto 10kg drying crates. The grapes are left to dry in our temperature and humidity controlled sheds for approximately six weeks. This follows the traditional Amarone techniques, resulting in a 30% loss in bunch weight. After drying, the wine is fermented on skins for two weeks and then is left for a further three weeks before pressing. This extended time on skins actually helps to soften the wine as the small, aggressive tannins are bound up in the process leaving only larger, silky tannins in the wine. The wine is then stored in oak barrels for ten months before careful barrel selection precedes blending and bottling.
Buying At Auction?
Your Questions, Answered
What do you need from me to get started?
We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.
How many wines are in each Lot?
You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.
Can I cancel my bid if I change my mind?
All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.
How much is the Buyers' Commission?
We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.
What are your freight charges?
Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.
Is there a Guarantee on my wine?
Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
