Stonyridge - Larose - Cabernet Sauvignon  Merlot  Malbec  Petit Verdot  Cabernet Franc  Carmenere - 2008 - 750mL

The fruit came in between March 17th and April 12th, the earliest start and finish to a Stonyridge vintage ever. Crop levels, while high, were balanced with a strong healthy canopy, leading to the largest amount of Larose ever produced in a single year.

Our flagship wine is dark and dense with great fruit expression from the five Bordeaux varieties. Cassis, plum, berries, our customary talclike fragrance with sumptuous chocolate, tobacco and earth on the nose and fine spices, cedar and pencil shavings derived from the oak. A big mouth filling wine, matured in
70% new French oak this wine is engulfed by the huge ripe fruit. Richly flavoured and beautifully complex, with immaculate tannin and structure, the aromas flow through to the palate which is flooded with ripe dark fruits and well-integrated French oak. This wine is greatly concentrated with a finish that lasts and lasts.

Smoky, toasty, cassis and fine gravel, burnt rose, pronounced oak. The palate in contrast is gentle with elegance. Grammy-award-winning tannins, a wine yet to release its full potential - in fact it reminds me of a Chateau Lafite I once had – just outstanding!

Encépagement: Cabernet Sauvignon 37%, Malbec 29%, Merlot 16%, Petit Verdot
16%, Cabernet Franc 2%

Situated on Waiheke Island, off the coast of Auckland, Stonyridge Vineyard specializes in super-premium Bordeaux blends, with Larose being a standout. The 2008 vintage reveals its richness as it warms to room temperature, boasting notes of blackberry, currant, mint, vanilla, and a hint of dark chocolate. The palate is vibrant, featuring pronounced yet appealing bell pepper, slightly tart red berries, and well-integrated tannins in the finish. A touch of mild saline mineral notes lingers on the closing notes.

Buying At Auction?

Your Questions, Answered

What do you need from me to get started?

We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.

How many wines are in each Lot?

You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.

Can I cancel my bid if I change my mind?

All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.

How much is the Buyers' Commission?

We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.

What are your freight charges?

Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.

Is there a Guarantee on my wine?

Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
