Product Name: St. Hallett 'Blackwell' Barossa Shiraz 2014 - 750 mL
Description: Discover the deep, vibrant flavors of the Barossa Valley with our St. Hallett 'Blackwell' Shiraz 2014. Crafted from hand-selected grapes from the rich soils of the Barossa, this full-bodied Shiraz boasts an intense dark cherry hue and an enticing bouquet of dark fruits, plums, and hints of chocolate and spice. This robust wine is matured in oak barrels, enhancing its structure and adding subtle notes of vanilla and toasty wood.
Tasting Notes: The palate is rich with a velvety texture, featuring layers of blackberry, dark chocolate, and fine tannins that lead to a long and satisfying finish. It perfectly accompanies red meats, hearty stews, or a robust cheese platter, making it a versatile choice for any dining occasion. Magnificent colour displaying an impenetrable inky black core and very deep dark purple-black hue. Ripe blackberry and liquorice aromas ooze from the glass followed by some dark plum, vanillin oak, confectionary and subtle pepper end notes. Rich and fleshy with a soft plush mouthfeel, yet quite refined the palate boasts sumptuous blackberry, liquorice and dark plum flavours over spicy vanillin cedar with some pepperiness on the finish. Structured yet velvety tannins. Long aftertaste of spicy blackberries, liquorice, dark plum, vanillin cedar and black pepper.
Alc 14.5%
Vintage Review: The 2014 vintage in Barossa was characterized by low rainfall and warm temperatures, leading to the development of richly flavored fruit with excellent maturity and depth. The 'Blackwell' Shiraz 2014 is a testament to the resilience and quality of Barossa Shiraz, displaying both power and elegance.
Critical Acclaim:
-
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: 92 points "A bold expression of Barossa Shiraz with a balance of fruit and oak that brings depth and richness to the palate."
-
Wine Spectator: 91 points "This Shiraz shows a complex array of flavors, from blackcurrants and blueberries to spice and everything nice. A robust wine that continues to evolve in the bottle."
-
James Halliday: 94 points "Richly textured and exquisitely balanced, this Shiraz is a shining example of Barossa's capability to produce world-class wines. Perfect now or for ageing."
- Mike Beenie, WineFront: 92 Points: Pops out of the glass with jubey, vanilla-kissed fruit, spicy-cinnamon-clove oak character. Big volume of perfume. Sweet, candied, attractive. Glides through the palate with dark fruits, liquid spice, builds with chewy pucker of tannins, goes peppery, finishes with sinewy oak character. Like that bright, medium weight fruit feel, though oak is a feature so far. Despite the overt oak, has mass appeal.
