Tasting Notes: The 2012 vintage presents a robust blend, primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot adding softness and roundness to the palate. It features a complex bouquet of blackcurrant, plum, and tobacco, layered with subtle hints of cedar and spice acquired from oak aging. The palate is rich and concentrated, offering a perfect balance of fruit, tannins, and acidity, leading to a long, persistent finish.
Vinification: Château Montrose follows traditional vinification methods, with the 2012 vintage being aged in French oak barrels to enhance its structural and flavor complexity. This meticulous approach ensures a wine that not only reflects the terroir but also stands the test of time.
Expert Reviews:
- Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate: 92 points - "A testament to the resilience and superiority of the Montrose estate, this vintage combines depth with elegance. The 2012 Montrose (57% Cabernet Sauvignon and 37% Merlot), is rich, broad, and dense ruby/purple, with substantial tannins still to shed. It is a rather masculine, medium to full-bodied Montrose, with cassis, crushed rock and spice. This wine will need bottle age because of the tannin profile, should hit its prime in another 7-8 years, and last for another 20-25. This is another wine with the alcohol pushing an impressive 14% and a finished pH of 3.7 – two characteristics of a very ripe, high-quality vintage."
- Wine Spectator: 94 points - "Marked by its refined tannins and vibrant fruit, it's a vintage that beautifully articulates the character of Saint-Estèphe."
Cellaring Potential: The Château Montrose 2012 is an excellent candidate for medium to long-term cellaring. It is approachable now but will continue to evolve and mature, developing greater complexity over the next decade or more.

Is there a Guarantee on my wine?
Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
