Product Name: Rockford 'Basket Press' Barossa Shiraz 2017 - 750 mL
Description: Discover the epitome of Barossa Valley's rich winemaking tradition with the 2017 Rockford Basket Press Shiraz. Crafted from hand-picked grapes sourced from old, low-yielding vines, this wine is a testament to the meticulous care and traditional methods employed by Rockford. The 2017 vintage is celebrated for its vibrant intensity, showcasing a deep ruby color with an enticing bouquet of dark fruits, plums, and a hint of spice and chocolate, all seamlessly integrated with the elegance of French oak.
Tasting Notes: On the palate, Rockford 'Basket Press' Shiraz 2017 unfolds layers of rich, luscious flavors of blackberry, licorice, and dark cherry, complemented by subtle hints of pepper and vanilla. The texture is robust yet smooth, with finely grained tannins that promise excellent ageing potential. The finish is long and satisfying, echoing the complexity of its aromas.
Vinification: Each parcel of grapes is fermented separately in traditional open-top fermenters, ensuring maximum color, flavor, and tannin extraction. The wine is then matured in a combination of new and old French oak barrels for two years, which imparts depth and adds subtle oak nuances without overpowering the natural fruit characteristics.

Huon Hooke - The Real Review: 94/100 Deep, soft ruby colour with a tinge of purple. The bouquet is fragrant, red-fruited, gently minty and open-knit, with a lick of char-oak, the palate following on from there with savoury flavours and drying but supple tannins surrounding a delicious core of sweet fruit. The palate is quite intense, deep and lush with a trace of mint. It's weighty, satisfying and flavoursome in its relatively unpolished but hearty way.Tasted: 28/05/2021Drink: 2021 to 2031
Food Pairing: Ideal with hearty dishes such as roasted lamb, beef bourguignon, or mature cheeses. This Shiraz also makes a perfect companion to a quiet evening by the fireplace.
