Product Name: Château Vray Croix de Gay Pomerol 2016 - 750 mL

Description: Experience the allure of Bordeaux with the 2016 Château Vray Croix de Gay Pomerol, a stellar red wine that exemplifies the finesse and depth of the Pomerol region. This 750 mL bottle is a showcase of sophistication, offering a wine experience marked by intensity and elegance.

Tasting Notes: The 2016 vintage features a rich bouquet of ripe red and black fruits, including plums, cherries, and blackberries, elegantly interwoven with notes of truffle, tobacco, and violets. On the palate, it displays a well-structured body with silky tannins and a complex profile of dark chocolate, cedar, and a hint of spice leading to a long, opulent finish.

Vinification: The grapes for the Château Vray Croix de Gay are meticulously selected to ensure the highest quality. The wine undergoes fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in French oak barrels to impart depth and character while preserving the wine's natural elegance and vibrancy.

Expert Reviews:

  • Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: 94 points - "An impressive Pomerol that combines power with refinement, offering layers of flavor and a velvet texture that speaks to the artisanal handling of the vineyard and winemaking process."
  • James Suckling: 92 points - "Lush and inviting, with a soft, plush texture that makes it immediately accessible yet indicative of its aging potential."
  • Antonio Galloni, Vinous - 97 Points - The 2016 Vray Croix de Gay is deep, sumptuous and opulent to the core. Inky blue/purplish fruit, crme de cassis, mint, sage, lavender and hard candy give the 2016 its sweet, unctuous personality. Even with all of its intensity, the 2016 possesses striking detail and nuance. This is an especially flamboyant style, but it all works beautifully. The 2016 has been absolutely fabulous on the three occasions I have tasted it so far.

Cellaring Potential: While delightful now, the 2016 Château Vray Croix de Gay is poised for remarkable development and can be cellared for the next two decades, promising to evolve and gain further complexity.

Buying At Auction?

Your Questions, Answered

What do you need from me to get started?

We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.

How many wines are in each Lot?

You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.

Can I cancel my bid if I change my mind?

All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.

How much is the Buyers' Commission?

We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.

What are your freight charges?

Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.

Is there a Guarantee on my wine?

Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
