The grapes were sourced on the impressive North-facing slopes of Chinaman’s Terrace, located in the Bendigo sub-region of Central Otago. This stunning site has soil featuring clay and chalk mixed with schist and quartz. Low yields = 35hl/ha. The grapes were handpicked and destemmed with a high proportion of whole berries going into the fermenters. The wine spent 17 months in French oak barrels of which 35% were new.

"A fantastic pinot with dried strawberries, orange peel, terra-cotta, and dried leaves. It’s full and very layered with creamy and fine tannins that go on for minutes. Plenty of depth and very long with tension and a beautifully creamy, velvety finish.”

Prophet’s Rock was first planted in 1999 in what is a breathtaking part of Bendigo in the Cromwell Basin. Unlike the majority of the vineyards in this
region which sit on the valley floor their vineyards are planted on steep slopes facing North. Paul Pujol is the winemaker since the first vintage in 2005
and has spent the off season over the last 4 years working in France at both Alsace for Kuentz-Bar and Comte de Vogue in Burgundy so has a superb
grounding in aromatic textured whites and one of the greatest expressions of Pinot Noir.

Buying At Auction?
Your Questions, Answered
What do you need from me to get started?
We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.
How many wines are in each Lot?
You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.
Can I cancel my bid if I change my mind?
All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.
How much is the Buyers' Commission?
We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.
What are your freight charges?
Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.
Is there a Guarantee on my wine?
Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
