2002 Coriole 'Mary Kathleen Reserve' Cabernet Merlot 1500mL
Est. range:
Tax included.
A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot the colour of this wine is still holding up very well displaying an opaque black dark red core with a deep very dark red hue. Perfumed aromas of ripe blackcurrant overlay a hint of liquorice, cigar box, earth and spice. Full bodied the palate still retains plenty of rich blackcurrant fruit alongside a touch of liquorice and the tannins have softened. Tertiary characters of earth, cedary cigar box and spice follow. Excellent length with slightly chewy but very fine grained tannins. Long aftertaste of blackcurrant, subtle liquorice, cigar box, earth and spice.
The Lloyd family founded Coriole in 1967, and are considered pioneers in the McLaren Vale region, and visionaries in the planting of Italian and French varieties. Long before it was fashionable, Mark Lloyd developed vineyards of Sangiovese, Picpoul, Chenin Blanc, Nero d’Avola, and others, plus of course, Shiraz.
Yet another fantastic museum release wine from the great 2002 vintage in McLaren Vale. Opaque black dark red colour with deep dark red hue. Aromas of blackcurrant, mulberry, spice and cedar with a leathery overtone. The palate displays an elegant structure with flavours of blackcurrant, dusty cedar, mulberry and a spicy cigar box back palate. Fine grained dryish tannins with long aftertaste of blackcurrant, spice, dusty cedar and leather.

Buying At Auction?
Your Questions, Answered
What do you need from me to get started?
We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.
How many wines are in each Lot?
You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.
Can I cancel my bid if I change my mind?
All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.
How much is the Buyers' Commission?
We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.
What are your freight charges?
Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.
Is there a Guarantee on my wine?
Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
