Description: Unveil the allure of Burgundy with the 2015 Louis Latour Pommard Epenots 1er Cru, a quintessential expression of Côte de Beaune's esteemed vineyards. This Premier Cru wine is a testament to the pedigree of its terroir and the meticulous care in its making, offering a sensory journey that connoisseurs and collectors will cherish.

Tasting Notes: The 2015 vintage reveals a deep ruby color with an inviting bouquet of ripe cherries, blackcurrant, and a hint of earthy truffle. On the palate, it delivers a robust structure and rich texture, underscored by velvety tannins and a balanced acidity. Notes of spice, leather, and a subtle minerality lead to a long, elegant finish, making this Pommard Epenots an exquisite addition to any wine enthusiast's collection.

Vinification: The grapes for the Louis Latour Pommard Epenots are meticulously selected from the estate's Premier Cru vineyards, renowned for their optimal exposure and limestone-clay soils. Following the harvest, the wine is aged in medium-toasted French oak barrels, of which approximately 35% are new, enhancing the wine's complexity and cellaring potential.

Expert Reviews:

  • Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: 90 points - "Offers depth and nuance, with a firm backbone that suggests it will unfold beautifully over the next decade."

The mouth is long, with exquisite notes of mocha. This red is expressive, exuding violet, black cherry, blackberry, spice and mineral aromas and flavours, with ample grip. Balanced, staying long and complex on the aftertaste.

From the Producer:

Description
  • The village of Pommard is comfortably sandwiched between the town of Beaune and the village of Volnay. In contrast to the wines of its close neighbours, those of Pommard tend to be fuller, more tannic and expansive in the mouth, similar to those of the Côte de Nuits. This area was named "Epenots", coming from "épine" (thorn or prickle), as a result of the natural vegetation of the area which was bush-like and thorny. The "Epenots" is solid and firm in its youth and needs time to mature and mellow out before revealing its full glory.
