Description: Experience the pinnacle of Australian Shiraz with the d'Arenberg The Dead Arm Shiraz 2002, presented in a rare 3000mL format that promises to be a centerpiece in any wine collection. This iconic wine, renowned for its robust character and depth, encapsulates the essence of premium McLaren Vale Shiraz, offering a complex profile with every pour.
Tasting Notes: The 2002 vintage of The Dead Arm Shiraz is celebrated for its intensity and structure. It opens with a compelling nose of ripe blackberries, plums, and hints of pepper, leading into a rich, full-bodied palate. Layers of dark fruit are complemented by nuances of spice, mocha, and leather, culminating in a long, persistent finish. Firm tannins and balanced acidity ensure that this wine continues to evolve, promising further complexity with age.
Vinification: The Dead Arm Shiraz is made from the oldest vines affected by a natural vine condition that reduces yield but increases fruit intensity. The 2002 vintage was meticulously hand-harvested and fermented in open-top fermenters, followed by basket pressing and aging in a mix of new and old French and American oak barrels for 20 months, enhancing its distinctive spicy, vanillin character.

- Wine Spectator: 92 points - "Robust and intense, with complex layers of flavor and a long finish that speaks of quality and ageability."
Cellaring Potential: While already offering a stunning drinking experience, this wine has the structure and tannins to continue developing beautifully. It is expected to reach its peak maturity between 20 and 25 years from the vintage, making it a superb candidate for extended cellaring.

Buying At Auction?
Your Questions, Answered
What do you need from me to get started?
We will need you to confirm that you are over 18 (for obvious reasons!) and to open an account by registering on the site. This will include provision of credit card details for any eventual purchases. You will also need to sign that you have read the terms and conditions.
How many wines are in each Lot?
You will see the quantity (number of bottles) stated above the price. Please note that the bid-price is per bottle so you will need to multiply the price by the number of bottles in the lot to calculate the total price of the lot.
Can I cancel my bid if I change my mind?
All bids are final - please think before you confirm your bid.
How much is the Buyers' Commission?
We have an extremely competitive buyers' commission of 16.5% (GST inclusive). This will be added to the final winning price of your Lot at the end of the auction.
What are your freight charges?
Please see our Delivery Policy for full details relating to freight.
Is there a Guarantee on my wine?
Under Australian law, consumer guarantees do not apply to goods purchased at auction - all such purchases are at the risk of the Buyer. We will always provide as much detail as we can as to the visual condition and provenance of each Lot, however this is done so as a guide rather than as a guarantee.
